Bulk material handling equipment is exposed to a combination of abrasion, impact, moisture, dust and difficult-flowing material. Coal fines may adhere to steel walls, wet ore can bridge over hopper outlets, and sharp aggregate can quickly wear through unprotected transfer areas. UHMWPE Dump Truck Liners are compression-molded engineering plastic sheets designed to protect the internal surfaces of coal bunkers, storage hoppers, chutes, downpipes and selected truck bodies. Their purpose is practical: reduce wall friction, limit direct contact between material and steelwork, and help equipment discharge more consistently.
The lining material is based on ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene, a polymer widely valued in dry bulk handling for its low-friction surface and dependable resistance to sliding wear. Unlike metal liners, it does not rust in damp operating environments. Unlike conventional steel surfaces, it provides a naturally self-lubricating contact layer that makes it harder for many powders, wet coal and fine granular materials to remain attached to the wall. This can help operators reduce manual cleaning intervals and maintain more predictable material movement.
A properly specified coal bunker liner is not simply a sacrificial panel. It is part of the flow path. When material repeatedly strikes, slides or accumulates in a bunker or chute, exposed steel can wear, corrode and create a rougher surface that traps even more material. The low dynamic friction coefficient of 0.07–0.11 supports smoother sliding action, especially in locations where wet coal, powdery feed or fine particles tend to stick. It is particularly useful for reducing the conditions that contribute to arching, rat-holing and outlet blockage.
Each lining project should be planned around the actual geometry of the equipment, material size, impact direction and fixing locations. Sheets can be supplied with countersunk mounting holes for bolt fastening, allowing bolt heads to sit below the working surface and avoid unnecessary wear. Compared with manganese steel or stainless-steel liners, UHMWPE sheets are lighter to handle during installation and replacement. This can simplify maintenance work in confined spaces such as hoppers, chutes and coal bunkers.
For curved or irregular equipment interiors, the material can be cut and processed into arc-shaped sections, U-shaped liners and other formed components. This makes it possible to cover transition zones, corners, sidewalls and discharge areas more completely than with flat standard plates alone. Dimensions, hole patterns, edge finishing and formed shapes can be prepared to suit site drawings or measured equipment dimensions.
Standard wear-resistant sheets are suitable for many above-ground applications involving coal, ore, sand, gravel and other abrasive bulk materials. For underground coal mine environments, anti-static and flame-retardant dual-resistant grades are available for applications that require additional consideration of mine safety and explosion-control conditions. The final material selection should follow the site’s safety procedures, equipment requirements and applicable local standards. A liner should be selected for the real operating environment rather than by wear resistance alone.
These wear liners are widely used wherever stored or transferred bulk materials create persistent sticking and abrasion problems. In underground coal mining, they are installed inside raw coal bunkers, buffer bins, coal chutes and coal drop pipes. Dual-resistant sheets can be selected for relevant underground duty. In thermal power plants, they help protect raw coal bunkers, dry coal shed hoppers and coal conveying chutes while reducing coal dust accumulation and material bridging.
In mining and aggregate operations, the lining is appropriate for ore bins, aggregate hoppers, crusher discharge chutes and transfer points exposed to sharp, abrasive particles. It can also be used in metallurgical powder storage bins, grain storage equipment and selected waste-soil truck bodies. For truck applications, lining design should consider the material being hauled, body shape, loading impact and fastening method. UHMWPE Dump Truck Liners can improve release performance for suitable bulk loads while providing a protective layer between the load and the truck body.
This lining solution is intended for mine operators, power plant maintenance teams, aggregate producers, equipment manufacturers and industrial facilities that need to protect material-contact surfaces while improving discharge efficiency. Its value comes from the combination of low friction, abrasion resistance, impact performance, moisture stability and fabrication flexibility. By reducing material adhesion and limiting steel wear, it can support longer intervals between repairs and less frequent shutdowns for cleaning.
